TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The UK government launched a cybersecurity trade mission in Indonesia on Monday, October 27, 2025. The trade platform involves 11 British companies that will operate in Indonesia.

Deputy Ambassador of the UK, Matthew Downing, said that these 11 cybersecurity companies are part of an innovative sector for academics, entrepreneurs, and the government. The eleven companies include the Age Check Certification Scheme, ASA Group/KKG Security, Athenian Tech Limited, BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, CyBOK, Darktrace, Friday Initiatives, Goldilock, ITM Systems, Safeware/Glasswall, and Secatr.

Matthew stated that this mission marks the strengthening of the cybersecurity sector between the UK and Indonesia. He said, "It opens up opportunities as well as deepens cooperation," during a focused discussion in Jakarta on Monday, October 27, 2025.

On the other hand, Matthew mentioned that cybersecurity is crucial amidst the threat of technological developments such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). Therefore, this trade mission aims to build digital infrastructure for resilience, financial systems, and education. "This is important to expand cybersecurity in building innovation and resilience."

Meanwhile, the UK Ambassador to Indonesia, Dominic Jermey, stated that his country has supported Indonesia in building a safe cyber governance through the Indo-Pacific Cyber Program, led by the UK's National Cyber Strategy. Through this trade mission, the UK is bringing leading cyber companies, known for their innovations and technical sophistication, to explore opportunities and provide support to Indonesia. This support will help Indonesia strengthen its digital resilience and develop its cybersecurity ecosystem through an ambitious roadmap. "This roadmap is expected to lead Indonesia as a digital economic leader in 2030," he said.

He hopes that this mission can build a system that protects Indonesian citizens, empowers business actors, and upholds democratic values in the digital era.

Director of Infrastructure and Technology, UK Department for International Trade, Rodney Berkeley, said his country is a global leader in cybersecurity. The UK currently oversees over 2,100 companies and 67,000 cyber professionals that provide cutting-edge solutions in various sectors and areas of expertise.

"As the world's third-largest exporter of cyber products and services, the UK combines innovation with government-guaranteed standards, making the UK a trusted partner for secure digital transformation," he said.

In Indonesia, Rodney added, the UK aims to foster deeper collaboration through the UK-Indonesia Strategic Partnership. Additionally, the UK aims to promote cyber resilience and the development of digital infrastructure in Indonesia. "Through specially designed solutions and capacity development programs, the UK is ready to build industrial partnerships to support various Indonesian government initiatives," he said.

The three-day trade mission will take place from October 27 to October 29, 2025. The UK delegation will participate in a series of activities in crucial infrastructure sectors to build practical collaborations and partnerships. The main activities include business matchmaking events to foster relationships between the UK and Indonesian business communities, as well as the UK-Indonesia Cyber Security Forum.

Experts from both countries will attend these activities to exchange ideas, share best practices, and discuss collaborative approaches to securing critical infrastructure and developing cyber competencies.
