TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The technology company ByteDance has postponed the global launch of its latest AI video model, Seedance 2.0, due to controversies in Hollywood, as reported by The Information.

The China-based company first introduced Seedance 2.0 in China in February. Short videos produced by this model, including clips featuring a showdown between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, quickly went viral, sparking sharp criticism from the film industry for allegedly infringing on intellectual property rights.

One screenwriter stated, "It’s likely over for us," while several studios promptly sent cease-and-desist letters to ByteDance for the alleged misuse.

In response, the report from Tech Crunch on Sunday, March 15, 2026, mentioned that to prevent similar issues in the future, ByteDance pledged to strengthen intellectual property protection.

The original plan for a global launch, initially scheduled for mid-March, is now on hold while ByteDance's engineers and legal team work to address potential further legal issues. The company aims to ensure that sufficient preventive measures are in place before introducing this model internationally.
