TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rainfall across much of Bogor, particularly in the Puncak area, on Monday evening, October 27, 2025, caused the Ciliwung River’s water level to surge. At Katulampa Dam, the level rose to a stage 3 flood alert.
“The widespread heavy rain in Bogor led the water at Katulampa Dam’s gauge board to reach 140 centimeters,” said Katulampa Dam guard M. Alwan on Monday night.
The stage 3 flood warning was issued around 70:26 PM, signaling potential flooding downstream along the Ciliwung River and at its estuary. Water from the river typically takes 9 to 11 hours to travel from Katulampa to the Manggarai Water Gate in Jakarta.
Alwan noted that the rise in water level began around 06:30 PM, reaching 80 centimeters—then classified as a stage 4 alert. Earlier, the water level had been at 30 centimeters, considered normal.
“At 80 centimeters, the discharge from Katulampa Dam to Jakarta reaches 90,046 liters per second,” Alwan added.
He warned that water levels may continue to rise as some areas in Bogor, especially Puncak, are still experiencing rainfall, albeit at a lower intensity.
“We urge residents living downstream, particularly in Jakarta at the Ciliwung River estuary, to remain vigilant as river discharge increases,” Alwan said.
