TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Barcelona has shown its dominance over Real Madrid this season. In all four El Clasico matches across all competitions, Barca emerged victorious, with their latest 4-3 win in the 35th week of LaLiga at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Sunday, May 11, 2025, bringing the aggregate score to 16-7.
Real Madrid's star striker, Kylian Mbappe, scored a hat-trick in that match. However, Carlo Ancelotti's squad had to acknowledge Blaugrana's superiority, who scored four goals — two from Raphinha and one each from Eric Garcia and Lamine Yamal.
The loss further complicates Los Blancos’ pursuit of the LaLiga title. They now trail Barcelona by seven points, with the Catalan club sitting atop the table on 82 points. With just three matches remaining, the championship is edging closer to Hansi Flick’s squad.
The 36th-week match scheduled for midweek could be decisive. Real Madrid will host Mallorca on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 02:30 AM WIB. If Vinicius Junior and his teammates lose, Barcelona will be guaranteed the title.
If Real Madrid wins or draws against Mallorca, Barcelona must win the away match against Espanyol the following day to secure the championship, with two games remaining in the Spanish League this season.
Young Barcelona player Lamine Yamal confidently stated that his team has been superior to their fierce rivals this season.
"We don't have that fear of them that maybe other teams have against them. So we gave it our all. We feel like we're better than every other team, that's the mentality we go out with," said Yamal, as quoted from ESPN.
Two weeks ago, Barcelona also defeated Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final with a score of 3-2 after playing 120 minutes.
The three winning goals were scored by Pedri, Ferran Torres, and Jules Kounde, while their opponents scored two goals through Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni. Kounde's goal in the 116th minute secured their 32nd trophy.
