TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta – State railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is preparing 85 train services under the government’s 30 percent fare discount stimulus program for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr travel season.
The policy follows a government initiative aimed at maintaining public purchasing power and ensuring smooth mobility during major religious holidays, including Idul Fitri, which marks the end of Ramadan. The discounted fares apply to journeys scheduled between March 14 and March 29, 2026.
Tickets under the special rates have been available in stages since February 10, 2026, through KAI’s official sales channels.
Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager of KAI operational region 6 Yogyakarta, said the program forms part of a broader national strategy to manage the annual homecoming exodus, known locally as mudik, while also supporting economic activity and tourism.
“For rail transportation, the government has set a 30 percent fare discount for travel during March 14–29, 2026, as part of efforts to maintain people’s purchasing power and manage national mobility during Eid” Feni told reporters in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
She said KAI is implementing the policy by ensuring sufficient capacity, smooth operations, and full compliance with government directives during the Idul Fitri transportation period.
Passengers can access the discounted fares through official booking platforms, including the Access by KAI mobile application, the website kai.id, and other authorized partners.
“There are 85 train services operating within the Daop 6 Yogyakarta area included in the government’s 30 percent discount stimulus program,” Feni said.
KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta expressed support for the government’s transportation management plan for Eid al-Fitr 2026 and urged the public to arrange their travel plans early to ensure a safe, orderly, and comfortable journey.
