TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A joint search and rescue (SAR) team has evacuated 53 bodies of Cisarua landslide victims, in West Bandung, as of Wednesday, 28 January 2026, at 16.00 local time. Meanwhile, the number of victims still being searched for is 27.
The head of the Bandung SAR Office, Ade Dian, said that the body bags were handed over to the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the West Java Regional Police Department for the identification process. As of Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the number of identified victims has reached 37.
"All personnel in the field are committed to work to the maximum, professionally, and humanely in order to find the victims declared missing," he said, quoted from the West Java Public Relations press release on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
As quoted from the same press release, the head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNBP), Suharyanto, said that the refugee victims of the Cisarua landslide will be relocated from the shelter at the Pasirlangu Village Office to temporary housing. There are two options for temporary housing provided for the refugees.
The first option, he said, is to move the refugees to temporary housing built by the government. And the second option, the refugees can search for their own temporary housing and will be given a monthly waiting housing fund of Rp600,000 per family.
The refugees are expected to occupy the temporary housing from January to March of 2026 while waiting for the permanent housing to be completed. However, if the permanent housing is not yet completed, the period of temporary housing placement will be extended.
Suharyanto said, preliminary data noted 48 houses affected by the landslide in Cisarua, West Bandung Regency. The houses of the landslide victims are planned to be rebuilt in a new location considered safe from disasters. The number of affected houses is likely to increase as more data is collected.
