TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national futsal team will face Vietnam in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup. This confirmation was achieved after Indonesia drew 1-1 against Iraq at the Indonesia Arena on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
In a tight and tense match, Indonesia played solidly from the start. The enthusiastic support of the crowd at the Indonesia Arena provided additional energy for the Garuda squad to press.
As a result, Indonesia was able to take the lead early in the first half. According to Skor.id, the opening goal was scored by Samuel Eko after capitalizing on a well-organized attack. They maintained the 1-0 lead until halftime, putting Indonesia in a favorable position in the decisive match of the group stage.
Entering the second half, Iraq increased their attacking intensity. The visitors played more aggressively and tried various strategies to break down the Indonesian defense. This constant pressure finally paid off through a power play that allowed Iraq to equalize at 1-1.
The equalizer opened up the match. Both teams traded attacks for the remainder of the match. Indonesia tried to regain the lead, while Iraq tried to capitalize on the momentum to turn the game around. However, the score remained tied until the final whistle.
This result confirmed that Indonesia and Iraq both advanced to the quarterfinals. Indonesia emerged as Group A winners, while Iraq finished second in the final standings.
As group winners, Indonesia will face Vietnam, the runner-up of Group B. Vietnam secured their place in the knockout stage despite losing to Thailand in their final group match.
The quarterfinal match between Indonesia and Vietnam is scheduled for February 3, 2026, at the Indonesia Arena. This match is expected to be a fierce one, given the quality and experience of both teams in Asia.
