TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - London has been named the world’s best city for Christmas tours, offering visitors a vibrant mix of festive markets, light displays, and seasonal attractions, according to a new study by PrivacyJournal.
The ranking highlights how European destinations continue to dominate holiday travel preferences, particularly during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
PrivacyJournal, a company that provides reviews on VPNs and digital security products, analyzed data from Tripadvisor and Kayak to compile the list.
The assessment included four factors: the number of Christmas tours on offer, average hourly tour prices, the number of languages available for tours, and average hotel rates in December.
London Tops the List
London took the top spot thanks to its wide variety of holiday experiences, from guided walks through Victorian-era markets to numerous free events across the city. Visitors can enjoy lively Christmas markets, sparkling displays, and bustling ice-skating rinks.
One standout attraction is Carnaby Street, known for its distinctive LED light installation suspended above the road. First launched last year, the customizable display is designed to return annually through 2030 with a strong focus on sustainability, Time Out reports.
Mauricio Preuss, CEO of PrivacyJournal, said Europe continues to excel as a Christmas tourism destination due to both tradition and accessibility.
“What's really striking about this year's results is how completely Europe dominates the Christmas tour landscape—nine of our top ten destinations are European cities,” Preuss said, as quoted by Travel + Leisure.
“But what's even more interesting is the diversity of destinations.”
Cities That Follow
Amsterdam ranks second, offering festive canal cruises and traditional Dutch holiday treats. Nuremberg, well known for its historic Christmas market, sits in third place, followed by Zagreb in Croatia and Strasbourg in France, rounding out the top five.

It also ranks among the most affordable cities surveyed, with average tour prices of around US$22.63 per hour, or roughly Rp377,000.
New York City is the highest-ranked U.S. destination at 14th place, followed by Branson, Missouri, at 16th, and Savannah, Georgia, at 17th.
