TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Overnight drone and missile attacks have killed several people and injured dozens more according to various local authorities in Ukraine and Russia, DW reported.
In the southern Russian city of Belgorod, near the Ukrainian border, at least five people were killed and 25 injured.
Belgorod's acting governor said that several apartment blocks had been hit overnight and images posted to social media showed several fires.
Belgorod is a key logistics hub for Russian offensives in Kharkiv and the Donbass.
Russian authorities, who said more than 150 Ukrainian drones had been downed by their forces overnight, also reported attacks on the Black Sea ports of Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik.
Novorossiysk is home to key Russian oil export facilities.
'Russia continuing its war on global food security' says Zelenskyy
Russian attacks targeted oil refineries in the Sumy region as well as the port city of Odesa, where President Voldymyr Zelenskyy said at least eight people had been injured.
The Odesa strikes targeted oil facilities in the southern port.
Odesa is also one of Ukraine's most important agricultural export hubs.
Zelenskyy said that with Sunday's attack, "Russia is continuing its war on global food security."
Two people were also killed and at least 21 injured in a Russian attack on Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, according to regional head Oleh Syniehubov.
Across the border, Russia claimed its forces had taken control of two villages in eastern Donetsk, though the claim could not be independently verified.
Kyiv arming itself against 4-year Russia invasion
As Russia's war on Ukraine drags on toward the five-year mark, Kyiv is again short on defensive weapons.
Kyiv has desperately sought to acquire more medium and long-range weapons systems from the U.S. with mixed results.
Now, Ukraine is turning to Turkey for help as the U.S. reportedly depletes its own stockpiles with its still unresolved war in Iran.
On Sunday, Ukraine's military news outlet Militarnyi reported that it would be purchasing 70 ATACMS and 12 M270 multiple-launch rocket systems from Turkey in an order that will also include more than 2,500 227mm rockets with cluster-munitions payloads.
The U.S., which has 30 days to approve the sale, estimates its total value at $283 million.
The ATACMS in question are of an older design, with a range limited to 165 kilometers (102.5 miles).
