TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Train ticket sales ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026 continued to increase as of Monday, February 9, 2026. A total of 37,188 tickets had been sold for departures from March 11 to March 26, 2026, from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Area 9 Jember.
This number is expected to continue to increase as ticket reservations are still open. During this period, several dates experienced particularly high sales: March 22, 2026, with 3,353 tickets, March 23, 2026, with 3,712 tickets, and March 24, 2026, with 3,824 tickets.
Cahyo Widiantoro, Legal and Public Relations Manager for KAI Operational Area 9 Jember, explained that ticket reservations are made according to the 45-day-before-departure schedule. "For example, a ticket purchased on February 9, 2026, can be purchased for a departure on March 25, 2026, and a ticket purchased on February 10, 2026, for a departure on March 26, 2026, and so on," said Cahyo, Monday, February 9, 2026.
Cahyo said this high number of reservations indicates that people are starting to plan their homecoming trips early by utilizing train services.
Customers can also take advantage of the connecting train feature, a service that allows passengers to obtain alternative routes by combining two or more train journeys if direct trains are unavailable, direct tickets are sold out, or schedules don't match. This feature is available automatically through the Access by KAI app and the official KAI website as long as alternative tickets are still available. The transit time between trains is a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 24 hours, and passengers will receive two booking codes in one transaction.
"Through the connecting train feature, customers have more travel schedule options, can still reach their destination city without having to change modes of transportation, and have the flexibility to choose the combination of trains and transit times that best suit their travel needs," added Cahyo.
KAI Operational Area 9 Jember urges the public to plan their trips early and book tickets promptly to ensure they secure their desired travel schedule, especially during the popular Eid homecoming season.
