TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Deputy Minister of Finance Thomas Djiwandono was sworn in as Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) at the Supreme Court today, Monday, February 9, 2026. Thomas was sworn in by Chief Justice Sunarto at around 14.05 local time.

Based on Tempo's observation at the location, Thomas' inauguration was attended by several state officials. Some of those present were Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, and Deputy Minister of Finance Juda Agung. Thomas was appointed based on Presidential Decree Number 10/P of 2026 dated February 3, 2026.

"I promise that I, in becoming Deputy Governor of BI directly or indirectly, do not promise to give anything to anyone with any name or excuse," said Thomas at the Supreme Court.

Thomas fills the position of Deputy Governor of BI previously held by Juda Agung. Juda Agung was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Finance on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Minister of Finance Purbaya previously denied that a swap had taken place between Thomas and Juda. "It's not a swap, it just so happens that Pak Juda's abilities can replace Pak Thomas, so put it there instead of me getting a headache looking for a replacement," said Purbaya at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, quoted from Antara.
