TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Survey institute Indikator Politik Indonesia released the results of a survey on public trust in the free nutritious meal program (MBG). According to the survey, 72.8 percent of respondents are satisfied with the program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
The lead researcher at Indikator Politik Indonesia, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, said their survey was conducted from January 15 to 21, 2026. "As of January 2026, about a quarter of the respondents are not satisfied (with MBG), while a total of 72.8 percent are satisfied," Burhanuddin said in a virtual press conference quoted on Monday, February 9, 2026.
In the survey, approximately 12.2 percent of respondents felt very satisfied with MBG, while about 60.6 percent felt quite satisfied. On the other hand, approximately 19.9 percent felt unsatisfied, 4.5 percent were not satisfied at all, and 2.8 percent did not respond.
According to Burhanuddin, Respondents' satisfaction rate is highly dependent on the National Nutrition Agency's (BGN) ability to control food quality. Burhanuddin stated that the satisfaction rate with the MBG program is influenced by issues such as food quality and poisoning cases.
Burhanuddin mentioned that the majority of those satisfied with the MBG program come from Generation Z. According to the survey, around 80.7 percent of Gen Z respondents expressed satisfaction with MBG.
Meanwhile, respondents living in cities tend to be more dissatisfied with MBG compared to those in rural areas. Jakarta has the lowest satisfaction rate at 52 percent. "The majority of the people in Jakarta are not satisfied with the MBG program," he said.
Indikator Politik Indonesia also asked whether MBG was likely to be corrupted. The results showed that 2.9 percent of the respondents strongly believed MBG was corrupt, and another 30.9 percent believed so. On the other hand, 45.6 percent of the respondents were less certain about corruption in MBG, 16.1 percent did not believe it at all, and 4.6 percent did not respond.
The survey conducted by Indikator Politik Indonesia used the multistage random sampling method. The sample size was 1,220 people with a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent and a public trust of 95 percent. The sample was taken from all provinces in Indonesia. About 35.5 percent of the respondents had family members receiving MBG, while 64.5 percent did not.
In response to the survey, the Head of BGN, Dadan Hindayana, stated that they would strive to enhance public satisfaction with MBG. "We pay attention to all public opinions for continuous improvement," said the professor from the Bogor Agricultural Institute in a text message on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Dadan said that BGN always strives to do its best to support President Prabowo Subianto's program. He hopes that MBG will produce a high-quality generation that will help achieve the golden generation target by 2045.
