TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian presidential aircraft carrying President Prabowo Subianto was escorted by six Pakistan Air Force JF-17 Thunder fighter jets as it entered Pakistani airspace on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that the six fighter jets escorted Prabowo until he arrived at the Nur Khan Base Airport. Prabowo's visit occurred in the context of a bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Pakistan at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Upon arrival at the Nur Khan Base Airport, Prabowo was welcomed by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the bilateral meeting between the two countries, Teddy stated that Prabowo emphasized the commitment of the Indonesian and Pakistani governments to strengthening cooperation in several sectors, including health, trade, education, agriculture, science and technology, and foreign politics. "And six related agreements were signed," he said.
Meanwhile, Teddy mentioned that Prime Minister Shehbaz described his meeting with Prabowo as highly productive, resulting in several agreements to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan. Pakistan is ready to collaborate to balance the current trade deficit, which currently stands at US$4.5 billion.
During this visit, Teddy mentioned that Prabowo also received Pakistan's highest award, the "Nishan-e-Pakistan," from President Zardari on behalf of the Pakistani government. Nishan-e-Pakistan is the highest award in the Order of Pakistan, established on March 19, 1957.
The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding and agreements in 7 sectors. The exchanged MoUs and cooperation agreements are as follows:
1. Agreement between the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on mutual recognition of Certificates and Degrees in Higher Education;
2. Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of Pakistan for the Grant Program under "The Indonesian Aid Scholarships";
3. MoU between SMESCO and SMEDA on Strategic Partnership in Facilitating Small and Medium Enterprises;
4. MoU between the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia and the Cabinet Division, Represented by the National Archives of Pakistan, on Archival Cooperation;
5. MoU between the National Narcotics Agency of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control of the Government of Pakistan on Cooperation in the Prevention and Eradication of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, New Psychoactive Substances, and their Precursors;
6. MoU between the Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency and the Pakistan Halal Authority in Halal Trade and Certification; and
7. MoU on Cooperation in the Health Sector.
