TEMPO.CO, JakartaHasan Nasbi has stepped down as Head of the Presidential Communications Office, saying his resignation was the best step forward for the government's communication efforts.

He also thanked President Prabowo Subianto for the trust given during his tenure.

"But I also have to apologize to him if during my service to the President, it fell short of his expectations," Hasan Nasbi said in a video uploaded by Total Politik on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Presidential Communications Office member Ujang Komarudin granted Tempo permission to quote the video.

Hasan emphasized that his decision was neither sudden nor emotional but made after careful consideration, although he did not elaborate on the details.

"I have concluded that it is time for me to step aside and watch from the sidelines. It's time to give a better figure the opportunity to replace the current position in the field," he said.

He officially submitted his resignation letter to President Prabowo on April 21, 2025, through the Presidential Chief of Staff and the State Secretary.

"Today, April 21, 2025, it seems that the time has come. I signed my resignation letter and sent it to the President through my 2 good friends, the State Secretary and the Presidential Chief of Staff," Hasan said.

The resignation follows a string of terror acts against Tempo in mid-March, including a pig's head without ears, a box of decapitated rats, and digital attacks on journalist Francisca Christy Rosana (Coca), host of the Bocor Alus podcast.

Instead of condemning the attacks, Hasan made a controversial remark, suggesting, "Just cook it," when referring to the pig's head, a comment he based on Coca’s social media response, which he perceived as joking.

President Prabowo later addressed the controversy, admitting Hasan’s comment was inappropriate.

"I think that was a careless statement, it was wrong, I think he regrets it," Prabowo said in Hambalang, West Java, on April 6, 2025.
