TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - KAI Commuter, the subsidiary of state-owned railway company KAI, is launching 1,065 daily trips for the Greater Jakarta and Yogyakarta Commuter Line during the Ramadan month.
Vice President Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, said there are no changes being made in the commuter line operations. "Trips are available daily from 04:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Jakarta time," Karina said in a statement on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
In detail, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line will serve 70 daily trips, while the Merak Commuter Line serves 14 trips each day. Meanwhile, the Yogyakarta-Palur Commuter Line service will continue with 27 trips, and 10 trips will be available daily for the Prameks Commuter Line during Ramadan.
Passengers at both the Greater Jakarta and Yogyakarta Commuter Lines are also welcome to break their fast inside the train during Ramadan, Karina said. But they are urged to consume light snacks and drinks in moderation.
"For the comfort of everyone on the train, it is advisable to avoid strong-smelling food or drinks [to break fast]," she added.
The staff will announce the time to break fast, or iftar, both inside the Commuter Line and at the station area. KAI Commuter also provides a water station or free drinking water dispenser for all to enjoy using their own water bottles. The management urges all passengers to adhere to the applicable rules and respect others.
The same rule also applies to LRT Jabodebek services. Passengers are permitted to break their fast until 7:00 p.m., both onboard the train and in the station area.
"The LRT Jabodebek passengers are allowed to break their fast with light food and drinks, such as dates, bread, and drinking water. However, heavy food and foods with strong odors are not permitted to maintain public comfort," said Radhitya Mardika, Manager of Public Relations for the LRT Jabodebek, as quoted in a written statement on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.
LRT Jabodebek also provides free drinking water across its stations. Passengers are encouraged to maintain cleanliness by collecting food waste and dispose them in the trash bins provided at their destination stations.
