TEMPO.COJakarta - The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, had a bilateral meeting with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, at the Kremlin Palace, Moscow, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. In his opening remarks, Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the reception by the Russian government amidst Putin's busy national agenda.

"Thank you for receiving me. I understand that President Putin's schedule is very busy," said Prabowo in his opening remarks as quoted from the presidenri.

In recent months, Prabowo stated, several delegations from the Russian government and business world have visited Jakarta. Prabowo also explained that the Indonesian government had facilitated meetings between our industrial entities and national companies with Russian partners to expedite strategic cooperation follow-ups.

"I have facilitated, connected with our industrial entities, our companies as well, and it seems that there have been many positive follow-ups," he said.

Prabowo also extended an official invitation to Putin to visit Indonesia. The invitation could be for next year or 2027, depending on Putin's schedule.

"I also want to invite Your Excellency to Indonesia on the occasion that you have. Whether in 2026 or 2027, there is no problem, we hope that you will also visit Indonesia. Don't just go to India," said Prabowo, greeted with light laughter in the room.

In response to the invitation, Putin gave a positive response. "Thank you, I will come," he said.

Putin also expressed his commitment to assist Indonesia in developing nuclear power plants (NPP).

"We have very good prospects in the field of energy, including nuclear power plants. I know that your country has plans for that, and we are always ready to help," said Putin as quoted from Antara.

Not only about nuclear power, Putin stated that Russia is also interested in cooperating with Indonesia in the fields of industry and agriculture. This strategic cooperation relationship continues to be deepened to support the economic growth of both countries. "We also have many interesting projects in the field of industrial cooperation and in the agricultural sector," said Putin.

In addition, Putin said that Russia and Indonesia have also agreed to strengthen cooperation in defense and military. Putin emphasized that the relationship between the two countries has always been very close.

According to Putin, Indonesia is Russia's traditional partner in the technical-military cooperation sector. The Head of State also revealed that many Indonesian military and defense experts have received education in Russia. "We traditionally have a very strong relationship in the technical-military cooperation field. Indonesia is our traditional partner in this field," he said.
