TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As severe floods and landslides continue to disrupt mobility and fuel access across parts of Sumatra, Indonesia's PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (Persero) is ramping up emergency fuel distribution to ensure communities can continue their recovery efforts.

The state-owned energy distributor has deployed Pertamina Mobile Fuel Stations and mini tank sets to support residents in the hardest-hit areas.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, said maintaining reliable fuel access is crucial for transportation, logistics, and broader post-disaster recovery activities.

“We have activated various supply modes, from Mobile Fuel Stations to mini tank sets for drum refilling. We understand that people are trying to recover, and energy is vital for that process,” Roberth said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, December 8, 2025, as quoted by Antara.

One measure includes emergency fuel distribution at a gas station in Pangkalan Village, Kejuruan Muda District, Aceh Tamiang, where a modular 16-kiloliter tank truck equipped with a nozzle is providing direct refueling to consumers. Ten additional mini tank sets are also being used to help residents quickly access Pertalite.

Roberth noted that similar mobile fuel services are operating in Medan City’s Polonia area to handle significantly increased demand in multiple disaster-affected locations.

Fuel consumption in the area has surged by up to 50 percent following the floods and landslides that hit at least three provinces in Sumatra, he added.

Area Manager for Communication, Relations & CSR of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional North Sumatra, Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, said teams on the ground are ensuring services remain safe and accessible.

“Every liter of fuel we deliver is part of helping our brothers and sisters recover. We are committed to maintaining service that is safe, fast, and affordable for all,” Fahrougi said.

He added that coordination continues with local authorities, security forces, and other partners to safeguard energy supply stability throughout the recovery period.
