TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Palestinian Ambassador Abdulfattah A.K. Al-Sattiri expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian government's steadfast support of the Palestinian people.

"I didn't expect this level of support. In Indonesia, I can't imagine how great the love for Palestine is, the love and affection the Indonesian people have for Palestine," said Al-Sattiri at the Palestinian Embassy's Iftar event in Jakarta on Friday evening, as quoted by Antara.

Al-Sattiri officially replaced Zuhair Al-Shun as the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia in January 2026, becoming the first ambassador from Gaza.

On that occasion, the ambassador shared his experience as a Gaza resident who had witnessed the region's people suffering due to the Israeli occupation firsthand. He said that some people cried when they learned he was from Gaza, even though they did not yet know he was an ambassador.

"When people find out I'm from Gaza, they start crying. If I tell my family in Gaza, they start crying too. So, this huge support is very much appreciated. And we know we're not alone," he said.

He also said that Indonesia and Palestine are like family.

"We are one big family. We are together. We will work together in the future to liberate Palestine and the Al-Aqsa Mosque," he added.

He emphasized that Palestine is not alone, stressing the importance of solidarity in the Palestinian struggle.

"We have enormous support for both the people in Gaza and the West Bank," he said.

Furthermore, he emphasized the close emotional connection between the Indonesian and Palestinian peoples, saying that they love and support each other deeply.
