TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Russia, officially unveiled Nusantara House. It is an Indonesian educational and cultural center, coinciding with the commemoration of National Education Day 2025.
The establishment of Nusantara House is part of the efforts of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow to promote and expand Indonesian educational and cultural diplomacy on a global scale, especially in Russia.
"This is a very important and historic day," said Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Russia and Belarus, on Friday, May 2, 2025, as quoted from an official statement.
"I hope that with the presence of Nusantara House, the international community, especially Russia, will get to know and love Indonesia even more."
Tavares believes that the presence of Nusantara House can become a bridge to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Russia in the fields of education and culture. He also hopes that Nusantara House can further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
Furthermore, Tavares also appreciates the opening momentum that coincides with National Education Day.
"This is the right time. Hopefully, Nusantara House can encourage the improvement of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Russia, especially in the education sector," he said.
To Indonesian students in Russia, Tavares asked them to earnestly pursue their education. He urged the students to take advantage of this opportunity to develop themselves so that they can contribute to the development of Indonesia in the future.
"We must be able to emulate countries like Singapore and Japan, which have advanced because of their human resources," he said.
On the same occasion, Deputy Chief of Mission of Indonesia to Russia and Belarus, Berlian Helmy, expressed his appreciation for the establishment of Nusantara House.
"I hope that this center can be utilized to the fullest to support Indonesian educational and cultural diplomacy in Russia," he said.
"Now, our task is to fill it with various positive activities."
In this regard, Education and Culture Attach of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Khoirul Rosyadi, who is also the initiator of Nusantara House, expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow for its support.
"Hopefully, this support will drive us to continue contributing to Indonesian educational and cultural diplomacy in Russia," he said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Information and Cultural Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, Nanang S. Fadilah, as well as Indonesian students (Permira) in Moscow and several Russian students from MGIMO University, Moscow.
On this occasion, the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow, in cooperation with the Indonesian Students Association in Russia, Moscow region (Permos), also presented the Ki Hajar Dewantara Award to Indonesian students in Russia who have achieved international recognition.
"Congratulations to the award recipients. Hopefully, the spirit of Ki Hajar Dewantara will continue to inspire and become the educational ethos at Nusantara House," said Tavares.
