TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stated that he and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have agreed to support Palestinian independence. They also aim for stability and security in Syria and peace in Ukraine.

"We agree that Indonesia and Turkey must contribute to maintaining the stability and peace of the world," said Prabowo in a press conference at the Presidential Palace of Turkey in Ankara on Thursday, April 10, 2025, as observed on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.

Prabowo also agreed to support the struggle for Palestinian independence mutually. "As leaders of the Global South, Indonesia and Turkey will continue to work together to push for a fairer world order which benefits all countries," he said.

Before this, in front of members of the Turkish Parliament, Prabowo stated that many countries have remained silent regarding the conflict in Palestine. These countries even claimed that the attacks on Gazans did not violate human rights. Yet, these countries often talk about democracy and human rights.

"Many countries speak about democracy, talk about human rights. But when children and mothers are bombed in the Gaza Strip, they all remain silent, pretend not to know, and pretend that it is not a human rights violation," said Prabowo in Turkey as released on the YouTube account of TBMM- Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi, Thursday, April 10, 2025.

Prabowo stated that the current global situation is filled with uncertainty. Powerful nations impose much oppression on weaker nations.

Presidential Communication Team spokesperson Philips Vermonte stated that President Prabowo's visit to Turkey followed President Erdogan's invitation during his visit to Indonesia in February 2025.

"During the last meeting in Jakarta, the Indonesians warmly welcomed President Erdogan. President Prabowo directly welcomed him at the airport, accompanied him to the hotel, and then escorted him back to the airport when he departed," said Philips Vermonte in an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday, April 10, 2025.
