TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia will host the Developing Eight (D-8) Summit this year, discussing, among others, the two-state solution to resolve the conflict between Palestine and Israel. Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir said that the Indonesian government will discuss the latest developments in the conflict and the measures to be taken, including those agreed upon by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

"Of course, the ultimate goal is the Two-State Solution," Arrmanatha said at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, February 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that Indonesia, together with D-8 member countries, who are mostly also part of the OIC, agreed to continue preparing joint measures towards a Two-State Solution, including ensuring the cessation of Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in accordance with the ceasefire agreement. "We seek to ensure humanitarian aid continues to enter Gaza," Arrmanatha said.

He added that the forum is expected to help address the health crisis in the Gaza Strip and to push for a continued ceasefire. However, he did not confirm whether the forum will also discuss the matter of the Trump-initiated Board of Peace.

Nevertheless, he emphasized that the dynamics and recent developments in Gaza could potentially be one of the key agendas in one of the D-8 Summit sessions.

Prior to this, Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that the upcoming Developing Eight (D-8) Summit hosted by Indonesia will produce concrete outcomes, especially in strengthening the economy of its member states. Indonesia leads the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization for the 2026-2027 period with the theme "Navigating Global Shifts: Strengthening Equality, Solidarity, and Cooperation for Shared Prosperity."

Established in 1997, D-8 is a development cooperation group of emerging economies comprising Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey. Azerbaijan became the group's ninth member in 2025. The organization aims to strengthen economic, trade, and development cooperation among its members for inclusive and sustainable growth.
