TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government will provide free transportation services for all public transportation under the auspices of the local government on Eid al-Fitr 2026.
Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, stated that this policy aims to facilitate the Jakarta community who do not go home to enjoy the atmosphere of the capital city instead of traveling out of town.
"On Eid al-Fitr, we will provide free transportation in Jakarta. To attract (the community) so they stay in Jakarta instead of dealing with traffic jams or going shopping abroad or the like, it's better to stay in Jakarta," said Pramono in the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout area, Jakarta, on Friday, February 27, 2026, as quoted from a written statement.
Pramono mentioned that the free transportation service policy during Eid al-Fitr also applies to people from outside Jakarta who are on vacation in the capital city. "I still want people from anywhere to come to Jakarta. Those who do not go home can also utilize Jakarta properly," he said.
The Jakarta Provincial Government will also prepare various exciting activities during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, one of which is a discount party at shopping centers.
He hopes that with this free transportation service, the economy in Jakarta will continue to thrive, and the community can engage in easier social activities.
In addition, during Ramadan leading up to Eid al-Fitr, the Jakarta Provincial Government will organize the Jakarta Ramadan Festival with various cultural attractions, arts, culinary events, entertainment, and affordable markets.
Some of the scheduled events include Jakarta Light Festival, Harmoni Ramadan Jakarta, Rebana Ramadan Colossal, Mudik to Jakarta, and Jakarta Festive Wonder with discounts of up to 70 percent at shopping centers.
