TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A video claiming that the Indonesian government will distribute money seized from online gambling operations to the public has been circulating on Facebook [archive] since January 14, 2026. The video is said to have originated from Tempo media.

The video shows a press conference where the police are unveiling an online gambling case with stacks of hundred-thousand-rupiah bills presented as evidence. The police are claimed to have seized Rp96 billion and will distribute it to citizens through the Gacor25 gambling site.

However, is it true that the government will distribute the confiscated money to the public through an online gambling website?

FACT CHECK

Tempo verified the content using reverse image search, AI content detection software, and interviewed Tempo's Editor-in-Chief, Setri Yasra. The results show that the video was AI-edited. The Indonesian government is not distributing the seized money to the public through the Gacor25 gambling site.

Through reverse image search, Tempo found that the video was identical to Metro TV's January 7, 2026 broadcast. The news is related to a case report involving five suspects who operated 12 online gambling sites with evidence worth Rp96.7 billion. They disguised their activities by creating a fictitious company.

In the original news report, the presenter did not mention that the confiscated money would be distributed to citizens through the Gacor25 gambling site. Nor did it include an interview with a man as shown in the 20th second.

The account that shared the content also uploaded a screenshot resembling a Tempo news article. However, Tempo never published such an article. The name and logo of Tempo Harian displayed in the content are not part of the Tempo media group.

Tempo's Editor-in-Chief Setri Yasa denied publishing an article referring to Gacor25 as an official government website. He said the content spread disinformation by misappropriating Tempo's logo and brand. “For the public, authentic and high-quality Tempo products can only be obtained on the official website, www.tempo.co,” said Setri.

Tempo's Fact Check Team then analyzed the content using an AI-based detection tool, Hive Moderation. The tool indicated a 99% likelihood of artificial intelligence (AI) alteration of the content.

Another detection tool, Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector, also flagged 99 percent of AI elements in the content's audio.

CONCLUSION

Tempo's verification concluded that the video claiming the Indonesian government will distribute confiscated online gambling money to the public through the Gacor25 website is false.
