TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has launched the Talenta Indonesia scholarship for nationally and internationally high-achieving students. This program is designed to fund undergraduate (S1) or applied undergraduate (D4) studies, both domestically and internationally.
The launch was carried out by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), in collaboration with the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP), on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Suharti, referred to this scholarship as the nation's appreciation for students who have achieved excellence in national and international arenas facilitated by Puspresnas.
"Talenta Indonesia scholarship is a form of the country's commitment to appreciate and provide further facilitation for talented students," said Suharti in a written statement on Friday, February 20, 2026.
According to her, this program is part of the student talent management program and a significant component of the national talent management program. The government, she said, aims to ensure the continuity of nurturing talent from primary and secondary education to higher education.
Talenta Indonesia scholarship targets students excelling in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) as well as in the SHARE fields: social, humanities, arts, religious, and economic.
The Head of Puspresnas, Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, explained that the scholarship recipients are national-level gold, silver, and bronze medalists, as well as those who received medals up to an honorable mention at the international level in events organized or facilitated by Puspresnas throughout 2024-2025. Irene stated that this program also provides an inclusive space for persons with disabilities.
Registration is open online until May 2, 2026. The government invites high-achieving individuals to pursue higher education with full support from the country.
The Director of LPDP Scholarships, Dwi Larso, stated that this collaboration aims to encourage high-achieving students to pursue the highest level of education.
Talenta Indonesia scholarship is fully funded. The funding scheme covers registration fees, tuition, book allowances, thesis assistance, transportation, monthly living expenses, health insurance, and visa fees for the international scheme.
This program consists of two main paths: S1/D4 Overseas Scholarships for international achievers and S1/D4 Domestic Scholarships for national achievers.
The ministry stated that this program is expected to strengthen the national talent pool's global competitiveness and is committed to contributing to Indonesia's development towards the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.
