TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Defense Ministry is planning to conduct training for the reserve components (Komcad) for civil servants soon. Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto claimed that this training agenda would not contradict or interfere with the main duties of civil servants in their respective agencies.

Donny explained that the training for the reserve components for civil servants will only last for two months. Those who undergo the training will return to serve in their respective agencies.

"The training for the reserve components is a form of national defense readiness," he said at the DPR Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

He stated that national defense readiness involves all components of the nation, including civil servants. The training for the reserve components for civil servants will be divided into several stages.

Donny mentioned that in the initial stage, there will be approximately 4,000 civil servants who will receive training for the reserve components. "We have requested participation from 49 agencies from all ministries and institutions," he said.

According to Donny, the names of the civil servants provided by each agency will be curated and selected by the Defense Ministry. The training for the reserve components for civil servants is targeted to commence next April. "We hope to turn all civil servants into reserve components," he said.

The plan for the training program for reserve components for civil servants was first announced by Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. The Defense Minister explained that involving civil servants as reserve components aims to instill nationalism and love for the country in serving the nation. This program targets civil servants in central government ministries and institutions.

He mentioned that civil servants aged 18-35 would be included in various basic military training programs. After completing the series of training, the civil servants will be sent back to their respective agencies to continue their service.

With this program, Sjafrie hopes that the nationalism of civil servants will increase, thus enhancing their spirit to serve the people and the country.

Furthermore, Sjafrie stated that the training for reserve components for civil servants will be conducted in stages. "We will divide it into quarters so that in the first semester, we will have a fairly large reserve component. That is the projection of how a country must defend itself," he said in Cibodas, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, as reported by Antara.
