TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -  The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts partly cloudy skies across the Jakarta area throughout this Sunday.

Through its @infobmkg channel, the BMKG reported that partly cloudy conditions are predicted for the morning across all administrative areas of Jakarta and the Thousand Islands.

Partly cloudy conditions are expected to persist into the afternoon in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and South Jakarta, while North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands are forecast to be cloudy.

At night, partly cloudy skies are predicted to return across all administrative areas, whereas the Thousand Islands will remain cloudy.

Temperatures in the capital region today range from 28 to 29 degrees Celsius.

Previously, the BMKG announced that the 2026 El Nino phenomenon has become active and has the potential to reach a very strong level.

This condition is predicted to trigger a drier and more prolonged dry season across most of Indonesia, thereby increasing the risk of drought and various impacts on strategic sectors.

Consequently, there is a need to strengthen national mitigation and preparedness measures.

The mitigation efforts being undertaken focus not only on drought but also serve as part of preparations to face potential wet hydrometeorological disasters at the end of the year.
