TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) stated that the October 2025 inflation remained within the targeted range of 2.5 plus minus 1 percent. Based on the data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the October inflation was recorded at 0.28 percent monthly and 2.86 percent annually. BI is confident that inflation will remain controlled within the targeted range of 2.5 plus minus 1 percent in 2025 and 2026.
"The sustained inflation is the result of the consistent monetary policy and the close synergy in inflation control between BI and the government in the Central and Regional Inflation Control Team through the National Movement for Controlling Food Inflation in various regions," said BI's Executive Director of the Communication Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, in an official statement on Monday, November 3, 2025.
BPS noted that core inflation in October 2025 was recorded at 0.39 percent monthly, higher than the previous month's realization of 0.18 percent. Meanwhile, on an annual basis, core inflation in October 2025 was recorded at 2.36 percent, higher than the previous month's 2.19 percent.
The volatile food group also experienced inflation, at 0.03 percent monthly. This figure decreased compared to the previous month at 0.52 percent (mtm). On an annual basis, October's volatile food inflation was recorded at 6.59 percent, higher than the previous month's 6.44 percent.
BPS reported that the 0.28 percent monthly inflation rate caused the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to rise from 108.74 in September to 109.04 in October 2025. BPS's Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Pudji Ismartini, explained that gold jewelry became the most dominant commodity driving the October inflation, contributing 0.21 percent.
In addition, red chili contributed 0.06 percent inflation, while chicken eggs and chicken meat each contributed 0.04 percent and 0.02 percent, respectively.
"The October inflation was mainly contributed by the personal care and other services expenditure group with 3.05 percent inflation and a contribution of 0.21 percent," said Pudji in a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, November 3, 2025.
From the perspective of the inflation components, Pudji stated that all components experienced price increases. The core component recorded the highest inflation at 0.39 percent with a 0.25 percent contribution. This was influenced by the increase in the price of gold jewelry and college tuition fees.
