6 Exotic Tourist Attractions in Sabang to Celebrate Eid Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sabang, the westernmost city in Indonesia, has a variety of holiday destinations. The region in Aceh Province not only holds historical remnants of colonialism, but also has beautiful natural scenery with surrounding seas.

Here are tourist attractions in Sabang to visit during this Eid holiday.

1. Iboih Beach

Quoting Wonderful Indonesia, Iboih Beach is one of the famous beaches on Weh Island. The beach is popular for its beautiful underwater scenery, making it a perfect location for divers and snorkeling enthusiasts. This tourist attraction is enchanting due to its clear sea water, coral reefs, and diverse marine life.

In addition to water activities, Iboih Beach is also known as a location for relaxation, watching the sunset, and enjoying the natural scenery.

2. Rubiah Island

According to information from Jadesta Kemenparekraf, Rubiah Island on the northwest side of Weh Island has an area of about 2,600 hectares and is home to various marine biota. The natural underwater environment is still pristine and untouched, making it known as a paradise for marine park tourists.

Snorkeling here is one of the best spots with many fish, providing visitors the opportunity to see and capture moments with beautiful marine animals.

3. Sarang Cave

A beautiful cluster of giant coral rocks is not only found in Raja Ampat, but also in Iboih Village in Sabang. To see this, visitors must stop by Sarang Cave, a stunning location for taking photos among the coral rocks and the turquoise sea waves. Located approximately 30 km from the center of Sabang City, the cave has narrow passages to explore. Inside, tourists will see sunlight entering through the crevices from above the cave.

4. Anoi Itam Beach

One of the unique tourist attractions in the City of a Thousand Forts is Anoi Itam Beach. True to its name, the place is named as such because it has black sand. The natural environment makes this beach on the east of Weh Island suitable for a vacation away from the crowds. Here, there are also Japanese fortresses left over from World War II.

5. Pria Laot Waterfall

Pria Laot Waterfall is located in Pria Laot Village, Iboih Sukakarya Subdistrict, Sabang. Based on the scientific journal titled "Pengembangan Kawasan Wisata Air Terjun Pria Laot, Sabang" (The Development of Pria Laot Waterfall Tourism Area, Sabang) by Cut Tasya Irayana et al., this water attraction has a natural scenic panorama and fresh air amidst lush trees. The water in this play area originates from Pria Laot River flowing from Aneuk Laot Lake and then streaming down from Mount Sarung Keris, Jaboi.

The route to this tourist attraction is one-way with Iboih Beach, just before the popular beach on Weh Island. So, if you vacation at Iboih Beach, don't forget to stop by Pria Laot Waterfall.

6. Sumur Tiga Beach

Sumur Tiga Beach is located in the le Meulee area, Sukajaya District. This vacation spot is easily accessible, only taking about 10 minutes from the center of Sabang City and 20 minutes from Balohan Port. Here, tourists can snorkel, swim, relax, and sunbathe. The uniqueness of this tourist spot is the presence of three freshwater wells around the beach, 15 meters away from the sea.
