TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vietnam is one of the countries in Southeast Asia that offers a diverse range of tourist destinations, from historical, spiritual, and natural to culinary attractions. Here are the recommended tourist spots that travelers can visit, citing Tripadvisor and VnExpress.

1. Ancient Town of Hoi An

This town boasts charming architecture and beautiful streets. Visitors can tour the city by boat or rent bicycles and carts.

2. War Remnants Museum

This museum on Vo Van Tan Street in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, was opened in 1975 to exhibit the crimes and consequences of the French and American wars in Vietnam. The museum houses a large collection of artifacts, photos, and historical films. In addition, dozens of planes, tanks, and weapons used in the Vietnam War are still displayed outside the museum.

3. Cu Chi Tunnels

Located about 70 kilometers southwest of the center of Ho Chi Minh City, these tunnels are a symbol of Vietnam's resistance and courage during the Vietnam War. The tunnels were used by the Vietnamese army as hiding places and communication and supply routes during the war.

4. Ha Long Bay

This UNESCO World Heritage site with thousands of small islands rising from the emerald waters gained popularity after the blockbuster movie Kong: Skull Island was filmed there in 2017.

Visitors to the islands can see limestone islets, rock formations, and stunning caves. Tourists can also rent traditional junks to sail through thousands of small islands covered with vegetation and towering limestone cliffs. The most ideal time to visit this natural wonder is between March and April and from September to November.

5. Imperial City of Hue

This city was once the home of the Nguyen Dynasty during the feudal period. Covering an area of over 1,235 hectares, this fortress was built between 1804 and 1833, serving as a symbol of wealth and power of the last ruling family of Vietnam.

6. Trang An

The Trang An Landscape Complex is located in the northern province of Ninh Binh, about a two-hour drive from Hanoi. Surrounded by karst limestone mountains, towering cliffs, ancient caves, and winding rivers, Trang An is known for its boat tours.

7. Fansipan

Fansipan is the highest mountain in the Indochinese Peninsula, nicknamed the Roof of Indochina, with a height of 3,147 meters above sea level. The path to reach the peak of Mount Fansipan is not easy to conquer, especially for amateur climbers, due to its varied terrain, including steep slopes, towering cliffs, and dense forests.

8. Lady Buddha

This 67-meter-tall Bodhisattva Guanyin statue stands atop a lotus blossom at the Linh Ung Pagoda in the Son Tra Peninsula in the center of Da Nang City. Lady Buddha offers a tranquil atmosphere and educational tourism about the local culture and religion.

9. The Temple of Literature

This destination was built in 1070 during the reign of Emperor Ly Thanh Tong to honor Confucius and later became the first university in Vietnam. Many believe that touching the stone steles containing the names of scholars who passed the Mandarin language exams in the olden days will bring luck in major exams.

10. Marble Mountains

Finally, there are the Marble Mountains in Da Nang, Vietnam, a complex of cave networks, tunnels, towers, and pagodas built by Mahayana Buddhist followers and the Nguyen Dynasty. There are six major caves hidden in the Marble Mountains, and many other lesser-visited caves.
