1. Jumbo
Released on March 31, 2025, coinciding with the Eid holiday, Ryan Adriandhy’s animated film Jumbo quickly drew widespread attention. Within 60 days, it attracted 10 million viewers.
Set in the cheerful and colorful Kampung Seruni, Jumbo evokes nostalgic memories of childhood, offering both visually delightful scenes and a story that celebrates friendship, the pursuit of dreams, and small miracles that rekindle hope.
2. Pabrik Gula
Pabrik Gula reached one million viewers in less than four days after its March 31 premiere. Directed by Awi Suryadi, the film adapts a viral story by Simpleman that sparked online discussions.
It follows factory workers who encounter a mysterious figure, triggering curiosity that leads them into a series of strange events, work accidents, and ultimately the tragic death of a colleague in the factory’s back well.
3. Komang
Screened on March 31, 2025, Komang drew two million viewers by April 14. Inspired by the real-life love story of Indonesian popular singer Raim Laode and his wife, Ade, the film follows a simple meeting that blossoms into love.
Their relationship faces severe tests due to differences in beliefs and backgrounds, portraying a heartfelt journey through love, challenges, and resilience.
4. Petaka Gunung Gede
Released on February 6, 2025, Petaka Gunung Gede attracted two million viewers in 15 days. The horror film recounts a tragic climbing incident on Mount Gede in 2007, which led to mystical disturbances.
The story follows Maya and Ita, who climb Mount Gede with five friends. When Ita accidentally violates a local taboo, the climb turns into a chilling ordeal, suggesting the anger of the mountain’s guardian and blending true events with folklore.
5. Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan
Yandy Laurens’ prolific romance film, Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan, was released on July 10, 2025. By mid-October, it had reached three million viewers and was selected to represent Indonesia at the 2026 Oscars.
The story explores the complex dynamics between Jonathan, a photographer who often neglects his health, and his caring wife Sore, who travels back in time to change Jonathan’s life path and protect the one she loves.
6. Jalan Pulang
Released on June 19, 2025, Jalan Pulang drew ten million viewers within a week. Directed by Jeropoint, the film tells the poignant story of single mother Lastini, played by actress Luna Maya, who confronts unseen threats to save her daughter.
Her journey is long and filled with trials, including supernatural disturbances that test her determination, resilience, and maternal instincts.
7. Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku
Premiering on November 27, 2025, Agak Laen: Menyala Pantiku set the record for the highest opening-day audience of an Indonesian film in 2025 with 272,846 viewers. Within 17 days, it attracted around seven million viewers.
The film follows four inept detectives investigating the murder of a mayor’s child, believed to be hiding in a nursing home. Through a unique mix of comedy and suspense, the detectives face unexpected challenges and humorous situations, with actors Bene Dion, Boris Bokir, Indra Jegel, and Oki Rengga portraying characters struggling to meet their superiors’ expectations.
