TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has unblocked Rp86.6 trillion in previously frozen ministry and agency budgets. The ministry locked the budget during the efficiency program inked under Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025.
"We have unlocked Rp86.6 trillion in budget, so ministries and agencies can resume spending," said Deputy Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara in a press conference on KiTa State Budget at the Ministry of Finance office on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
The process to release the frozen budget was carried out after Sri Mulyani met with Prabowo on March 7, 2025. According to Suahasil, the Finance Minister at the time had reported to the head of state that budget efficiency had been completed. Subsequently, Sri Mulyani requested permission to review, reallocate, and unblock the budget to allow ministries and agencies to spend the budget accordingly.
Suahasil outlined that part of the unblocking, reallocation, and budget cuts occurred in the newly formed ministries. As is known, Prabowo's Red and White Cabinet includes newly formed ministries and agencies. "There are 23 restructured ministries and agencies. The blockade is still underway but Rp33.1 trillion has been released," he said.
Meanwhile, 76 other existing agencies have had their budget unlocked, with a value of Rp53.49 trillion, making the total unblocked budget amount to Rp86.6 trillion.
The unblocking process significantly improves ministries and agencies spending. In January, the realized expenditure for ministries and agencies was only Rp24.7 trillion. The government saw a surge in February with Rp83.6 trillion, and in March with Rp196.1 trillion.
Throughout March, the ministries and agencies expenditure was Rp113.6 trillion, which is higher than the accumulation in the first two months. "This is what we call spending acceleration," said Suahasil.
