
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gunman opened fire at visitors at Or Tor Kor Market in the Chatuchak district, Bangkok, killing six people, as reported by Bangkok Post. The shooter later shot himself.
Four security personnel and a merchant were killed in the incident.
The suspect was identified as a 61-year-old former security guard who had previously worked for the same company as the guards who were shot and killed. After the shooting, the suspect sat on a bench in the middle of the market and shot himself to death.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the gunman's motive. The perpetrator was wearing a black t-shirt and camouflage shorts, with a backpack next to his body.
Police found an ID card and driver's license identifying the deceased as a 61-year-old man from Khong District, Nakhon Ratchasima. The name on the card was Noi Praidaen.
Rescue workers confirmed that four market security personnel and a merchant—a woman—were shot dead. Two other women were injured.
Footage showed the armed man running back towards eyewitnesses, while the bodies of the security personnel lay on the road inside the market complex. The shooting occurred at 12:38 p.m. local time, according to rescue workers.
