TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Badminton individual events at the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games have reached the semifinal stage, with matches scheduled to take place in Pathum Thani, Thailand, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM WIB.

Indonesia will be represented by eight players and pairs in the semifinals. The country has two representatives each in the men’s singles, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles, while one entry remains in the women’s singles and mixed doubles.

In the men’s singles, Alwi Farhan and Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah will each face Malaysian opponents—Justin Hoh and Leong Jun Hao, respectively. Should both Indonesians advance, Indonesia would be assured of the gold and silver medals in the event.

Indonesia’s hopes in the women’s singles rest solely on Putri Kusuma Wardani after Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Malaysia’s Wong Ling Ching. Putri will meet Thailand’s Supanida Katethong in the semifinals.

The two players are evenly matched, with a 2–2 head-to-head record, although Putri won their two most recent encounters earlier this year.

In the men’s doubles, Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Moh. Reza Pahlevi Isfahani and Leo Rolly Carnando / Bagas Maulana will also compete for a place in the final, both against Malaysian pairs. Sabar / Reza are set to face Man Wei Chong / Tee Kai Wun, while Leo / Bagas will take on Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik.

As in the men’s singles, Indonesia could secure both gold and silver medals if both pairs advance.

Indonesia is also represented by two pairs in the women’s doubles. Rachel Allessya Rose / Febi Setianingrum will face Malaysia’s Pearly Tan / Thinaah Muralitharan, who previously defeated them in the women’s team event.

Meanwhile, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Meilysa Trias Puspita Sari will meet Vietnam’s Bui Bich Phuong / Vu Thi Trang.

The country’s only remaining mixed doubles pair, Jafar Hidayatullah / Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, will take on Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh / Supissara Paewsampran. This will be their third meeting, with the Thai pair having won the previous two encounters.

With eight representatives in the semifinals, Indonesia remains in contention for gold medals in all five individual badminton categories. Earlier in the Games, badminton delivered one gold medal from the men’s team event and a silver medal from the women’s team competition.
