TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the possibility of Indonesia sending peacekeeping forces to the border of Israel-Gaza if a peace agreement occurs between the two. President Prabowo conveyed Indonesia's readiness during a limited meeting with the Red and White Cabinet at his residence on Jalan Kertanegara IV, South Jakarta, on Sunday night, October 20, 2025.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said Indonesia does not rule out the possibility of sending peacekeeping forces if there is a constructive agreement related to the Gaza-Israel conflict. "The President also conveyed that if there is a positive agreement in the sense of peace, one of the consequences is that Indonesia is asked to participate in sending peacekeeping forces," Prasetyo said after the meeting.

Prabowo has also instructed Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) General Tandyo Budi Revita to start preparing so that Indonesia is ready when needed. After the meeting, the head of state immediately departed to Egypt on Sunday night to attend the High-Level Conference on Gaza peace in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

Prasetyo said President Prabowo's departure to accept a sudden invitation to the Gaza peace HLC, which he received on Saturday, October 11, 2025. "The invitation truly begged for the presence of President Prabowo because it is part of the continuation of negotiations that hopefully, God willing, can bring peace in Palestine, especially in Gaza," Prasetyo said.

Prasetyo stated that President Prabowo emphasized that all parties should maintain good relations and decide to attend the invitation.

It is known that United States President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will lead a meeting to discuss proposals to end the war in Gaza. The meeting will take place in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, October 12, 2025.

According to El Sisi, as reported by Al Jazeera, the meeting will involve leaders from 20 countries. "The goal is to end the war in the Gaza Strip, increase efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, and initiate a new era of regional security and stability," according to a statement on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said they would attend. Likewise, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Spain's Pedro Sanchez. French President Emmanuel Macron has also confirmed his attendance. However, it is not yet clear whether Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, or representatives of the Palestinian Hamas, will attend.
