TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A major fire engulfed hundreds of fruit stalls at the Kramat Jati Wholesale Market in East Jakarta on Monday morning, December 15, 2025. The fire, which hit Block C fruit stalls located on Jalan Raya Bogor, Kampung Tengah Village, has resulted in massive financial damage.
The estimated loss from the blaze is approximately Rp10 billion, according to Abdul Wahid, Head of the Fire Handling and Rescue Section (Sudin Gulkarmat), East Jakarta.
"It resulted in approximately 350 affected stalls," confirmed East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Alfian Nurrizal, in a post on his Instagram account @alfiannurrizal.id on Monday.
Fortunately, authorities confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.
The Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat) received the initial report of the fire incident at the market around 7:24 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB). The report was received directly from a concerned resident who came to a nearby post to alert officers.

A massive response was immediately deployed. To combat the blaze, Gulkarmat dispatched a total of 19 fire engines and 95 personnel. Officers arrived at the scene at approximately 7:28 a.m. WIB, and firefighting efforts began one minute later at 7:29 a.m. WIB.
The flames were brought under control and extinguished around 8:06 a.m. WIB. Following suppression, officers carried out a thorough cooling operation to ensure all hotspots were eliminated.
Both Commissioner Alfian and Abdul Wahid stated that the fire has been completely extinguished, and the situation at the Kramat Jati Market is now safe and under control.
