TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) closed lower on Wednesday afternoon. Market players took a "wait and see" approach ahead of the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The IHSG closed lower by 15.34 or 0.19 percent to reach 8,051.18. Meanwhile, the group of 45 leading stocks (LQ45 index) rose by 0.25 points or 0.03 percent to 722.14.

"Market players are watching the increasing tension between the United States and China ahead of the highly anticipated meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping later this month," said Associate Director of Research and Investment at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, Maximilianus Nico Demus, also known as Nico, in his analysis in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as quoted from Antara.

On the domestic front, the weakening of IHSG was due to the realization of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) until the end of September 2025, which decreased by 19.8 percent compared to the same period last year.

This occurred after Danantara began receiving dividends from state-owned enterprises. Additionally, concerns about the U.S.-China trade war are still prevalent.

Opening higher, IHSG moved into negative territory until the close of the first stock trading session. In the second session, IHSG remained in the red zone until the end of the stock trading session.

According to the IDX-IC Sectoral Index, four sectors strengthened. The primary consumer goods sector led the way, rising by 0.72 percent. The infrastructure and finance sectors followed, rising by 0.37 and 0.11 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, seven sectors weakened, with the technology sector declining the most by 3.34 percent, followed by the transportation & logistics and industrial sectors, which fell by 3.27 percent and 0.86 percent, respectively.

The stocks with the greatest gains were KICI, MBTO, CBRE, SOHO, and PUDP. The stocks with the biggest declines were SOSS, SSTM, MLPT, ASRM, and AYLS.

The stock trading frequency recorded 2,698,254 transactions, with a total of 36.16 billion shares traded worth Rp29.95 trillion. There were 232 gainers, 449 losers, and 122 unchanged.

Among regional stock markets in Asia this afternoon, the Nikkei index rose 834.68 points or 1.78 percent to 47,682.00, the Hang Seng index rose 469.25 points or 1.84 percent to 25,910.48, the Shanghai index rose 46.98 points or 1.22 percent to 3,912.50, and the Strait Times index fell 37.22 points or 0.84 percent to 4,389.84.
