TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK), in collaboration with the Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities, has shut down 1,556 illegal online lending platforms and 284 unauthorized investment schemes detected between January and September 30, 2025.
According to OJK, the discoveries were based on public reports and digital monitoring.
“From January to September 30, 2025, we received 17,531 complaints related to illegal entities—13,999 concerning illegal online lending and 3,532 involving fraudulent investment offers,” said OJK Executive Head for Financial Services Business Conduct Supervision, Education, and Consumer Protection, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, in a press release on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The task force also identified thousands of phone numbers connected to illegal debt collectors and has requested the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs to block 2,422 numbers linked to these unlicensed lenders.
Earlier, OJK established the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC) to strengthen the fight against online financial fraud.
Since its launch in November 2024, the center has identified 22,993 phone numbers reported by scam victims. In response, OJK has coordinated with the ministry to block the numbers and trace fraudulent activity.
Between November 2024 and September 30, 2025, the IASC received a total of 274,772 fraud reports. Of these, 163,945 reports came from victims through financial service providers such as banks and payment platforms, while 110,827 were submitted directly by victims via the IASC system.
To date, authorities have recorded 443,235 reported accounts, of which 87,819 have been blocked. The total reported financial losses have reached Rp6.1 trillion, while the amount successfully frozen or recovered stands at Rp374.2 billion.
The OJK emphasized that it will continue to strengthen coordination with law enforcement and digital platforms to prevent the spread of illegal financial practices and protect the public from online fraud.
