TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited Temasek Holdings, a global investment company owned by the Singapore government, to collaborate with Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara). Both entities have the opportunity to collaborate in various sectors.
He conveyed this invitation during a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Parliament House in Singapore on Monday, June 16, 2025. "We look forward to a close collaboration between Temasek and Danantara in all sectors, especially the renewable energy sector," said Prabowo.
Prabowo mentioned that Danantara and Temasek could collaborate in sustainable industries. They could also work on developing the Batam, Bintan, and Karimun industrial areas in the low-carbon energy and essential infrastructure sectors.
Prabowo added that Indonesia initiated the Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Republic of Indonesia, named Danantara, because it signifies Indonesia's future energy. "So, actually, we are doing this for the future generation of Indonesia," he said.
President Prabowo launched Danantara at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, February 24, 2025. He appointed the Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, as the Group CEO or Head of Danantara. This institution oversees state-owned enterprises and serves as the investment vehicle for the Indonesian government.
Sumitro Djojohadikusumo, the father of Prabowo, actually proposed an institution similar to Danantara. However, the idea of a state-owned enterprise profit management investment institution was rejected by the ministers of the New Order government.
In the presence of Lawrence Wong, he admitted that Danantara was formed by emulating Temasek. Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited is a Singaporean state-owned enterprise founded in 1974. Supported by 13 offices in nine countries, Temasek has a portfolio worth S$389 billion as of March 31, 2024, primarily in Singapore and Asia.
Companies headquartered in Singapore make up 53 percent of the total value of Temasek's portfolio. This is followed by 13 percent from companies in China, 17 percent from the Americas, and 10 percent from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
