TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Judha Nugraha, the Director of Citizen Protection at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that there are approximately 194 Indonesian citizens in Israel. Judha stated that some of them have requested evacuation following the escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict in recent days.
"There are 11 Indonesian citizens in Israel who have requested evacuation," Judha said in a video statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Judha mentioned that, given the current escalation, the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, is preparing the evacuation plans. Indonesia and Israel do not have diplomatic relations.
According to Judha, in addition to the evacuation plans, the Indonesian Embassy in Amman has also prepared contingency measures for Indonesian citizens in Israel. The Indonesian Embassy in Amman has set alert level 1 for the Israel and Palestine regions since 2023. Evacuation processes have been conducted previously as well.
He stated that the Indonesian government consistently advises Indonesian citizens in Iran and Israel to remain vigilant.
As previously announced by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Indonesia has raised the alert status of the Indonesian Embassy in Tehran, Iran, to level one. This decision was made following the increased intensity of Israeli attacks on Iran over the past two days.
"The targets are not only military targets, but also civilian targets, which is why I have decided to raise the alert level," Sugiono said in Saint Petersburg, Russia, as quoted from a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran on June 13, 2025. The Israeli military targeted nuclear facilities in several Iranian cities and high military command centers. Iran responded with ballistic missile launches towards Israel.
