TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, United States, kicked off its 70th anniversary celebration on May 16, 2025, until the summer of 2026. The "Celebrate Happy" themed event includes parades, shows, vibrant decorations, new trinkets, entertainment, food, treasure hunts, and more.
This celebration has been a tradition since its opening on July 17, 1955, and was attended by Walt Disney. This year's commemoration invites visitors to reminisce about the moments etched in Disneyland. "We don't live in the past, but we honor the past. We honor our history, culture, and tradition as we look to the future," said David Caranci, a creative development manager of Walt Disney Imagineering, as quoted from Travel+Leisure.
70th Anniversary Celebration
Various parades, shows, and entertainment for this anniversary event are packed more spectacularly. This includes the new joyful theme song "Celebrate Happy," by the Jonas Brothers.
The Celebrate Happy Cavalcade parade will be held on Main Street, near the Main Street Magic Shop. The parade will feature iconic Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Daisy Duck. Given the festive atmosphere, these characters will have a new look.
"It's the 70th. This is a party atmosphere. So what do you need when you go to a party? You need a great new outfit. Mickey, Minnie, and the gang all have really great fun new looks," said Jennifer Magill from Disney Live Entertainment, adding that their costumes lean towards the 70th anniversary celebration colors, as cited in People.
As night falls, there are several equally lively shows. Starting with Tapestry of Happiness, a five-minute projection show against the backdrop of It's a Small World. This tour traces the resort's history, culminating in a new theme song combined with classic ride songs, tying the perfect knot between Disney's past and present.
Then there's the return of the Paint the Night Parade with over a million LED lights showcasing classic films like Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid to modern favorites like Monsters Inc. and Cars.
The finale is the spectacular Wondrous Journeys fireworks show, set against the backdrop of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. This multimedia show features a journey through 100 years of Disney animation, combining video projections and fireworks.
Meanwhile, at Disneyland California Adventure Park, there will be the "Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration" parade during the day. In the evening, there will also be a spectacular show, "World of Color Happiness!" with special guest stars.
New Attractions
One of the most historic attractions, It's a Small World, will be revamped. Visitors will see Miguel and Dante from Coco, and the new song's lyrics were written by Richard Sherman, who passed away last year on July 17, the exact anniversary of the 70th celebration.
At Disneyland California Adventure, "Toy Story Midway Mania!" is celebrating its 70th anniversary with logos throughout, including a sparkling "70" target to aim for during the 3D interactive ride.
Birthday Food and Merchandise
More than 70 new menu items will be showcased during the celebration. Eduardo Rodriguez, a Disneyland Resort chef, stated that the menu served will combine classic flavors and present them in a contemporary style, adjusting the color scheme to give it a festive feel.
Among them is the Peach Cobbler Funnel Cake Fries served with vanilla ice cream as his personal favorite, found at the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree in Disneyland. Not to be missed, the classic Mickey Hat Cookie will feature the Mickey Club logo, Churros, popcorn buckets, and exclusive merchandise specially for the 70th anniversary celebration.
