TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) has revoked the business permits of three banks in Indonesia, consisting of rural credit banks (BPR) and sharia rural credit banks (BPRS), as of August 2025.
The banks were declared bankrupt after failing to implement recovery measures recommended by OJK.
Most of the bankrupt institutions were BPRs, with the only exception being PT Bank IFI. Below are details of the three banks whose licenses were revoked this year.
BPRS Gebu Prima
According to the OJK’s official website, the regulator revoked the license of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Syariah Gebu Prima (BPRS Gebu Prima) in Medan, North Sumatra, through Decision Number KEP-23/D.03/2025 dated April 17, 2025.
The bank had been classified as “Under Restructuring” in May 2024 after failing to meet capital and health requirements, before being placed “Under Resolution” in March 2025 when recovery attempts collapsed.
Following a request from the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), OJK revoked the bank’s permit. LPS will now oversee liquidation and guarantee customer deposits under Law Number 24 of 2004 and Law Number 4 of 2023. OJK assured customers that their funds remain protected.
BPR Dwicahya Nusaperkasa
On July 24, 2025, OJK revoked the license of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat (BPR) Dwicahya Nusaperkasa in Batu, East Java, through Decision Number KEP-47/D.03/2025.
The bank had been classified as “Under Restructuring” since November 2024 due to low capital adequacy, weak cash ratios, and an “unhealthy” rating. In July 2025, its status was escalated to “Under Resolution” after management and shareholders failed to execute recovery measures.
LPS then requested the revocation of its license through Decision Number 42/ADK3/2025. OJK emphasized that customer deposits remain guaranteed by LPS.
BPR Disky Surya Jaya
Most recently, OJK revoked the permit of PT BPR Disky Surya Jaya in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, through Decision Number KEP-58/D.03/2025 dated August 19, 2025.
The bank had been under supervision since August 2024 for failing to meet capital requirements and receiving an “unhealthy” rating. By July 2025, it was placed “Under Resolution,” but recovery efforts by shareholders and management failed to meet regulatory standards.
LPS decided to liquidate the bank under Decision Number 58/ADK3/2025 dated August 11, 2025, before requesting OJK to revoke its license. With this decision, LPS will now manage deposit guarantees and liquidation.
