Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport Hit by Outage, InJourney Airports Apologizes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) apologized for the power outage that occurred at the International Terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, Indonesia, on Friday, October 10, 2025.

"On behalf of Injourney Airports, as the operator, we apologize to airport service users, aircraft passengers, airlines, and partners," said InJourney Airports President Director Mohammad R. Pahlavi in a written statement on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Pahlavi stated that InJourney Airports had implemented contingency procedures when the disruption occurred. InJourney Airports is currently investigating the cause of the disruption. "In parallel, we have taken the necessary steps to prevent this incident from recurring," he said.

Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab explained the impact of the power outage on international and domestic flight schedules at the airport. At least 42 international flights and 32 domestic flights had to adjust their departure and arrival schedules due to the incident.

Syaugi expressed his deepest apologies to service users, airport stakeholders, and the entire public for this incident. "When the outage occurred, the technical team immediately investigated and attempted to resolve the issue to ensure safety, security, and smooth service throughout the airport," Syaugi said in a written statement on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

The power outage in the airport area lasted almost an hour, from 6:13 PM WITA to 7:18 PM WITA on Friday. Several flights affected by this incident were able to depart again the following day, Saturday, October 11, 2025. "Our monitoring results from Saturday morning to afternoon indicate that all flight activities, passenger services, and the flow of drop-off and pick-up vehicles were running normally and smoothly," Syaugi said.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport management expressed its appreciation to all relevant parties who supported operational management at the airport during the incident. "We reaffirm our commitment to a thorough evaluation and continuous efforts to improve facility reliability to prevent similar incidents in the future," he said.

Meanwhile, Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, General Manager of PLN's Bali Distribution Unit, stated that technicians and supporting equipment had been dispatched to address the power outage at the airport. He stated that I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has returned to normal operations.

Eric stated that PLN is committed to maintaining reliable electricity supply. "System-wise, PLN's electricity supply has been normal since last night. However, as a precautionary measure, we are continuing to monitor conditions on the ground," Eric said on Saturday, October 11, 2025, as reported by Antara.
