TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Bali has ranked first as the best tourist destination in the world in the Travelers' Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026 by TripAdvisor. This ranking is the highest position Bali has achieved in the history of TripAdvisor ratings. While Bali has consistently appeared in the Top 10, it has never reached first place until now.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana appreciates the trust and positive assessments from international reviews. "The selection of Bali as the best tourist destination in the world by TripAdvisor shows that Bali is still a magnet for world tourism," said Minister Widiyanti in a press release on Friday, January 16, 2026.

This award is compiled from reviews and ratings by global tourists throughout 2025. Bali surpassed iconic destinations such as London, Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, and Rome.

TripAdvisor described Bali as a living postcard. Travelers can visit white sand beaches or dive to explore coral reefs and World War II shipwrecks. Inland, lush forests protect stone temples and wildlife. "Make Ubud your base, a perfect place to witness cultural dance performances, participate in batik or silver craft workshops, or refresh your mind and body in yoga classes," the TripAdvisor site stated.

Other Awards Received by Bali

In addition to being named the Best World Destination, Bali received several other prestigious rankings. These include first place for Best Honeymoon Destination, a spot in the Top 10 Best Cultural Destinations, the Top 10 Best Solo Travel Destinations, and the Top 20 Trending Cities.

These achievements are expected to improve service quality and strengthen sustainable tourism principles across Indonesia while attracting quality tourists.

"In the future, we want to ensure that Bali continues to grow as a quality tourist destination, which benefits the local community, preserves the environment, and inspires the world," said Widiyanti.

Bali remains a prime destination due to its diversity. Natural beauty combines with local culture, art, tradition, and religious ceremonies preserved by the community.

The Balinese experience offers depth to every visitor. The harmony between nature and culture makes the island a sought-after destination for travelers worldwide.
