TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The US aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln, is reported to be preparing to attack Iran within 1-2 days, as cited by Antara on Monday.
US forces are also reported to have sent dozens of additional fighter jets to bolster their strike group in the region.
Earlier in the day, quoting a US official, Fox News reported that the aircraft carrier strike group USS Abraham Lincoln had entered the CENTCOM's area of responsibility in the Indian Ocean.
Meanwhile, at least three US Air Force planes have been relocated from Germany to Middle Eastern countries, including Kuwait and Qatar, in the past two days, according to Flightradar24 data.
According to the flight tracking service, as reported by Sputnik on Monday and cited by Antara, a Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker landed in Qatar on Sunday at around 18:23 GMT (Monday, 01:23 Western Indonesian Time - WIB). The plane likely departed from the US Air Force Ramstein Air Base in Germany.
Furthermore, on Saturday around 20:40 GMT (Sunday 03:40 WIB), a military transport aircraft Boeing C-17A Globemaster III landed in Kuwait, with the departure point recorded in Trier, Germany.
Finally, on Saturday around 21:54 GMT (Sunday, 04:52 WIB), another C-17A aircraft that departed from the US Air Force Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany disappeared from radar in the southern Kuwait area.
Moreover, based on Flightradar24 data, the US also deployed military transport aircraft Lockheed Martin C-130J Hercules from Bahrain to the central Kuwait area. Additionally, around 01:54 GMT (08:54 WIB) on January 25, a US KC-135R tanker landed in Qatar.
On January 21, the Wall Street Journal reported that the US had deployed F-15E fighter jets and the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to the Middle East. It was also reported that additional air defense systems, including Patriot and THAAD missile defense systems, would be placed in the region.
On January 22, US President Donald Trump stated that US Navy ships are moving towards Iran to "keep an eye on," and earlier, he refused to give a definite answer to whether the military intervention option in Iran had been ruled out, only saying that he could not say what would happen in the future.
