The following is the list of the top 3 news on Tempo English today:
1. Hajj Furoda Visa Not Issued; Indonesian Govt: It's Under Saudi Authority
Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said inquiries about the absence of a visa for hajj furoda should be directed to the Saudi Arabian government. This is because they issued the hajj furoda visa.
"(Visa for hajj furoda) should be requested from the Saudi Government. They are the ones issuing the visa. Hajj visas are all issued by the government of the Saudi Arabian Kingdom," said Sugiono at the Pencak Silat Training Center, Jakarta, on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
2. Economist Predicts Rising Debt Under Prabowo's Administration
An economist from the Bright Institute, Awalil Rizky, predicted that the government of Prabowo Subianto will continue to increase Indonesia's national debt. This prediction is based on the large budget deficit target set by the government in the Macro-Economic Framework and the Basic Policy of Fiscal Policy (KEM-PPKF) 2026.
"A budget deficit, where state revenue falls short of expenditure, requires financing. The primary source of financing for the government is expected to remain in debt," Awalil said in a written release on Friday, May 30, 2025.
3. 11 Countries with the Most Restrictive Visa Policies
Several prospective Indonesian furoda hajj pilgrims have not obtained visas. Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar stated that this delay is experienced not only by hajj pilgrims from Indonesia but also by those from several other countries.
A visa is an important document for traveling abroad. Currently, there are 195 countries in the world, and some travelers dream of exploring them throughout their lives. Indonesian passport holders can visit 76 countries without a visa, including some ASEAN countries that usually do not require a visa for entry.
Some countries have open visa policies, while others impose strict visa processes. The difficulty of obtaining a visa is usually caused by important factors such as political conditions and security issues.
