TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Headquarters spoke out about the ongoing legal process regarding the acid attack on Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus. The institution had previously been urged to reveal all the attackers to the public.
The Head of the TNI Information Center, Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that they were unable to fulfill that request at the moment. He said, "The suspects will be presented during the trial" on Monday, April 13, 2026.
The TNI Military Police Center had named four members of TNI's Strategic Intelligence Detachment (Denma Bais) as suspects. They are Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetia, First Lieutenant Budi Heriyanto Dwi Cahyono, First Lieutenant SL, and Second Sergeant ES.
The four suspects were handed over to the Military Prosecutor II-07 in Jakarta by the TNI Military Police. Aulia said, "The TNI Military Police have completed the entire investigation process in accordance with applicable regulations," on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
During the handover process, the suspects were removed from the detention vehicle without their faces being shown. The officers immediately escorted them into the building.
Andrie Yunus' legal counsel, a part of the Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD), had previously urged the authorities to announce the full identities and physical characteristics of the perpetrators to ensure that the four individuals being prosecuted were the actual culprits.
One representative of TAUD, Fatia Maulidiyanti, gave an example with the revelation that the individuals who attacked her colleague had also been splashed with acid. "So we have to check whether the perpetrators have acid burn marks on their faces," said Fatia on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
The findings by TAUD indicated that two of the attackers were also hit when they splashed Andrie with acid. "There were splashes that hit their hands, causing the bottle used for the attack to be thrown to the side of the road," Fatia said during a reenactment event one month after the tragedy.
