TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian national futsal team successfully overcame South Korea with a score of 5-0 in the opening match of Group A in the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup. The match took place at Indonesia Arena, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday night, January 27, 2026.
Indonesian national futsal team player Syauqi Saud Lubis stated that the players gave their maximum effort in tonight's match. "I see that everyone has given their best," he said after the match on Tuesday night, January 27, 2026.
Regarding the evaluation of tonight's match, Syauqi has not yet passed it on to the coach. He stated that all the players have shown their best performance. "If it's about evaluation, that's for the coach to decide," said the player from North Sumatra. Syauqi played as a winger.
He did not elaborate on the team's weaknesses. However, personally, he was unable to score a goal in the opening match of Group A in the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup. "I feel like I've done my best personally, but I haven't scored yet, it's just not my fate," said the player known as the attacking motor, as well as the link between the back and front lines.
Hector Souto's team earned maximum points in the opening match of Group A in the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup after overcoming South Korea with a score of 5-0. The opening goal from team captain M. Iqbal Rahmattulah boosted the Garuda squad's confidence on their home turf.
Rio Pangestu scored the second goal, followed by a powerful shot from Iqbal which secured the third goal in the second half. Paulo Fernandes' team was increasingly under pressure. Indonesia then added two more goals through IIsrar Megantara and Reza Gunawan.
Following this match, the Indonesian national futsal team will face Kyrgyzstan on Thursday, January 29, 2026. The kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
