TEMPO.COJakarta - The price of premium rice remains above the government's highest retail price (HET) in various regions. According to data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) on September 3, 2025, the national average price for premium rice is Rp16,064 per kilogram, a 7.81% increase over the national HET of Rp14,900.

At the regional level, Zone 1's rice price is Rp15,370 per kilogram (3.15% above HET), Zone 2 is Rp16,485 (7.05% above HET), and Zone 3 is even higher at Rp18,406 (16.49% above HET).

Only a few provinces sell premium rice below the HET, including Yogyakarta (Rp14,535) and South Sumatra (Rp14,789). Major provinces like West Java (Rp15,031), East Java (Rp15,058), and DKI Jakarta (Rp15,180) are slightly above the HET, with a price disparity of 0.8% to 1.9%.

The most striking prices are in the eastern region. Papua recorded a price of Rp18,550 per kilogram (17.41% above HET), North Maluku is at Rp18,779 (18.85% above HET), and West Papua has the highest price at Rp18,800 per kilogram (18.99% above HET).

In addition to high prices, premium rice has also been scarce in some modern retailers. This shortage was confirmed by Bapanas Head Arief Prasetyo Adi, stating. "Some supplies to modern retailers did experience a decrease because the rice millers want to comply with the information on the label."

Millers who meet compliance standards, including a maximum of 15% broken grains, 14% moisture content, and at least 95% purity, will send new stock to retailers as soon as possible.

Arief also mentioned that recent cases of rice adulteration have prompted millers to be more disciplined. "Yesterday's incident serves as a review for all of us, one of them is to make rice milling more disciplined in producing according to the information on the label," he said.
