TEMPO.CO, Jakarta President Prabowo Subianto has ordered state-owned enterprises (SOEs)—such as PT Pertamina and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN)—to cut down the number of their subsidiaries. Prabowo issued this directive during a limited meeting with several ministers and the President Director of PT Pertamina, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on the afternoon of Sunday, August 9, 2026.

“During the meeting, President Prabowo ordered a reduction in the layers and subsidiaries of Pertamina, PLN, and other SOEs,” said Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya in a written statement on Monday, August 10, 2026.

Teddy explained that reducing the number of structural layers aims to make the state-owned enterprise more agile and productive. He noted that a shorter bureaucratic chain is expected to make governance more efficient.

“The streamlining aims to accelerate decision-making, boost productivity, and better maintain the efficiency of all SOEs,” said Teddy.

Furthermore, during the meeting, President Prabowo received a progress report on the mandatory 50 percent biodiesel program (B50), as well as an update on the readiness of infrastructure for implementing the bioethanol mandate. According to Teddy, Simon reported on the progress of the B50 implementation, which Prabowo had launched some time ago.

The B50 program mandates the blending of 50 percent palm oil-based biodiesel into diesel fuel. This program is touted as one of the government's measures to strengthen national energy independence and security by increasing the utilization of domestic energy sources.

“The President Director of Pertamina reported on the progress of the B50 (50 percent biodiesel) mandatory program—launched by President Prabowo last July—as well as infrastructure readiness for the government's planned bioethanol mandate,” said Teddy.

On July 9, 2026, Prabowo Subianto launched the mandatory implementation of B50. The Head of State noted that Indonesia is the first country to implement B50 biodiesel nationwide.

"With the launch of this program, Indonesia officially becomes the first country in the world to implement B50 biodiesel," said Prabowo at the KM 57 Rest Area on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, Karawang Regency, West Java, on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

He claims that B50 biodiesel is not merely a technological achievement, but proof that Indonesia is capable of harnessing its own natural resources for the benefit of the people.
