
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Russia to meet with President Vladimir Putin on the agenda of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025 in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Prabowo arrived at Pulkovo International Airport, St. Petersburg at around 17:50 local time. He was formally welcomed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Deputy Head of the Protocol of the Russian Federation Alexander Prusov, and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.
During the welcoming process, President Prabowo, accompanied by Manturov, passed through the honor guard. They paused for a moment to listen to Indonesia Raya national anthem and the national anthem of the Russian Federation.
After passing the honor guard, President Prabowo and Manturov introduced the delegations from their respective countries. Russian officials present included Senator Dagestan Ilyas Umakhanov, Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov, and Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov.
From Indonesia, there were Secretary of the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya, Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Jose Tavares, and Defense Attach at the Indonesian Embassy in Moscow First Marshal Jatmiko Adi.
Before leaving the airport, President Prabowo first watched the parade performed by the honor guard. Subsequently, President Prabowo, along with a limited entourage, left Pulkovo International Airport for the place of accommodation during his stay in St. Petersburg.
President Prabowo is scheduled to carry out several agendas during his two-day official visit to the Russian Federation. Foreign Minister Sugiono stated that this visit is an important part of bilateral diplomacy between Indonesia and Russia, as well as strengthening Indonesia's role in global issues.
Prabowo is scheduled to meet directly with President Vladimir Putin at Constantine Palace or Konstantinovsky on Thursday, June 19, 2025. "Tomorrow, it is planned to pay a visit to President Vladimir Putin," said Foreign Minister Sugiono in his statement in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Prior to the bilateral meeting with President Putin, President Prabowo will start the agenda by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as a form of homage. The agenda will then continue with a bilateral meeting and conclude with a lunch.
On Friday, June 20, 2025, Prabowo is scheduled to be one of the speakers at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2025. This forum is a meeting place for global economic leaders and stakeholders.
"The President will be invited to speak at the Plenary Session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025, which is the culmination of the President's visit to Russia," said Sugiono.
